Understanding What is a Man
As we journey into the essence of manhood, I’d like to begin with Paul’s writing in Colossians 1:28; “Him we proclaim, warning everyone and teaching everyone with all wisdom, that we may present everyone mature in Christ.” In order to achieve this end in our ministry to men, we need to bring you to the incredible reality of what God has said from the very beginning. God declares His intentions for the creation of man in Genesis 1:26; “And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness.” This is the original design of what God Himself has called His “master craft.” Therefore, bringing men to maturity entails imparting an understanding of His character attributes such as love, peacefulness, faithfulness, courage, fearlessness, generosity, and mercifulness; to name a few. In 1 Corinthians 11:1, Paul wrote; “Imitate me, just as I also imitate Christ.” This shows that a man who walks in the example of that character, himself becomes the essence of God’s goodness in this realm. The opposite is also true. As a man steps away from this image he becomes distorted, defeated, and ultimately destroyed and relegated to inhabiting the equivalent of a desert place with nothing to offer. So my call to men around the globe continues to be to move in the direction of thinking, talking, and acting like Christ. It is this pursuit that brings life full-circle, to an expression of the glory of God. Any deviation toward any other direction will subtract from and diminish your manhood. God bless you.
